Who we want:
We are looking for an instructor who likes to teach, motivate and mentor youth ages 9-18 depending on the age group of the programs. You’ll need to deliver teaching materials to youth in an interesting and engaging way. Instructors must think logically and out-of-the-box thinker who wants to influence youth towards Science and Technology (STEM).
Hours: Saturday 9:30AM-12:30PM (Part-time contract). Hours may vary slightly.
Rate: $20-$25 per hour
Instructor is responsible for:
- Transportation of class materials from storage to the classroom
- Setting up the classroom and materials
- Using company-given Powerpoint slides and materials to engage and support students’ interest and attention
- Clean-up and pack away classroom materials for transport back to storage
- Provide feedback on courses content and materials
- Provide feedback to parents about student performance
Instructor is:
- Goal oriented, self-driven, and able to work independently
- Passionate in enriching themselves and the community
- A passion for science, technology, mathematics, and programming
- Enjoy problem solving, and creative, critical thinking
- Enjoy working with children between Grade 4-8
- Experience in LEGO EV3, Programming (C, Java, or Python), Arduino
- Must be able to get a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
Great to have:
- A good academic record in math, science, and programming
- Previous experience in teaching or leading classes toward children
- Past participation in robotics competitions such as FIRST, LEGO, or VEX
- Access to vehicle for transporting class materials
