Robotics Program (STEM) Instructor – Summer 2019

Who we want:

We are seeking an individual who likes to teach, motivate and mentor youth ages 9-18 depending on the age group of the programs. You’ll need to deliver teaching materials to youth in an interesting and engaging way. You’ll also need to be a logical thinker capable of thinking outside the box, and should also have a drive to influence youth towards Science and Technology.

Hours: Required to work Saturday, hours varies. 35 hours/week

Rate: $15 per hour

Deadline: May 10, 2019


Instructor is responsible for:

  • develop STEM teaching materials
  • transportation of class materials from storage to the classroom
  • setting up the classroom and materials
  • engage and maintain students’ interest and attention
  • clean-up and pack away classroom materials for transport back to storage

Instructor is:

  • Goal oriented, self-driven and able to work independently
  • Have a passion in enriching themselves and the community
  • Love Science, Technology, Mathematics, and Programming
  • Enjoy problem solving and thinking outside the box
  • Enjoy working with children between Grade 4-8
  • Experience in Programming (C, Java or Python), Arduino
  • Must be able to obtain a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
  • Must have personal laptop

Great to have:

  • Good academic record in Math, Science and Programming
  • Previous experience in teaching or leading classes toward children
  • Have participated in robotics competition such as FIRST, LEGO, VEX
  • Valid G driver’s license

As part of the Canada Summer Job Local priority, preference will be given to:

  • Applicants between age 15-30 intended to return to school in September
  • Students in the fields of Engineering, Computer Science, General Science Streams, and/or Teaching
  • Female applicants in the field of technology (STEM/ICT)
  • Students who are new immigrant youth/refugees and/or visible minorities
NOTE: Applicants must volunteer for 3 hours (1 class) as part of the application process.
